I probably learned more management skills from skiing and teaching ski, than anything else. When I took lessons from a really good instructor, sometimes I forgot I was learning about skiing or I was learning about life. In this video, Debbie Armstrong, the former winter Olympic gold medalist, a fantastic ski coach, shared her philosophy of teaching kids at advanced level. 1. When we are thrown out of balance we tend to stop so we can regain our complete control. But Debbie told the kids, and us: the joy and thrill of skiing ⛷️ come through movement, not stopping. Challenge yourself to commit, keep to moving and regain balance while you are moving. 2. If we fall, which we will, get our feet below us as fast as we can, so we can stand up and start moving. Never go down the hill with our head first! 3. Plan ahead, link our turns, be ready to turn quickly or jump over stumps and rocks. 4. It is ok to take a jump, take a risk, step out of our comfort zone a bit, but figure out a way to land on our feet, after trying and falling. Now change the word “ski” with “life”, this is a coaching in gold for career and life.
