Are you getting the right opportunities?

This is a good mental model for manager-employee relationship at different stages (buckets).

  1. Your skills match your opportunities - you perform.

  2. Your skills are less than your opportunities - you need coaching to grow the skills.

  3. Your skills are larger than your opportunities - you need another place with bigger opportunities.
